Robert ‘Bob’ Roy Reynolds

Robert “Bob” Roy Reynolds, 89, of Lake Placid, died Dec. 20, 2017, in Richmond, Virginia, of natural causes.

Born on Feb. 8, 1928, and raised in Hanover, New Hampshire, he was the son of Roy and Phyllis (Kennedy) Reynolds.

After serving in the U.S. Navy with his cousin Donald Bond for two years, he moved to Lake Placid and started a lifelong career at the Lake Placid Club. There his career grew, and he became program and sports director. In the winter he was the general manager of Mount Whitney ski area. It was at the Club that he met his wife, Beryl McGillis. They were married in 1955 at St. Agnes Catholic Church. His wife Beryl passed away in 2001. Together they purchased The Market on Main Street, where they had a successful retail business for several years.

Bob had a passion for sports and was an avid skier, tennis player and golfer. He was a train enthusiast and an active Rotary Club member while at the Lake Placid Club. He had a radiant smile and could always tell a joke and get a laugh.

Bob is survived by his brother John (Terry) of Boynton Beach, Florida; two children: Richard (Susan) of Sun Valley, Idaho, and Mona (Andy) Stahling of Montpelier, Virginia; two grandchildren: Meghan (Kyle) Brodie and Drew (Sarah Kathryn) Stahling; and a great-granddaughter, Kathryn Reynolds Stahling.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 26 at St. Agnes Catholic Church, Saranac Avenue, Lake Placid. Burial will be at St. Agnes Cemetery, Lake Placid.

Donations can be made in his honor to the Lake Placid Ski Club.
