Douglas Kenny, 73, formerly of Saranac Lake and currently of Plattsburgh, died Saturday, Feb. 24, 2018, at his home in Plattsburgh.
Born in Saranac Lake on Jan. 1, 1945, he was the son of Dennis and Margaret (Law) Kenny.
Doug was a lifelong musician who created and recorded his own music, mastered many instruments and was best known as a guitarist with a distinctive vocal style. He will be remembered for his sense of humor, his devilish laugh and his endless passion for music. His music will continuously be reminisced by those who knew him.
He is survived by three daughters: Dawn Stetz, Darlene Peryea and Winema Baker of Plattsburgh; one son, Douglas Kenny of Plattsburgh; two brothers: Gary Kenny of Rochester and Dennis Kenny of Buffalo; one sister, Theresa Meadows of Buffalo; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his father and mother, Dennis and Margaret (Law) Kenny.
Calling hours will take place from noon to 1 p.m. Sunday, March 4, at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake. A memorial service will immediately follow at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will take place in St. Bernard’s Cemetery in the spring.
