Loretta H. Decker
MOIRA — Loretta Helena Decker, 89, of Moira, passed away May 26, 2017, in Saranac Lake, under the supervision of Hospice and the loving care of her youngest daughter.
Born Nov. 17, 1927, in Knapp Station she was the youngest child of Stephen and Helena (Woods) Dishaw. She graduated from Moira High School in 1945 and later the Albany Austin School of Beauty Culture. In May 1949, she united into marriage with Frederic W. Decker, of Moriah/Port Henry, at St. Mary’s church in Brushton. She owned and operated her own beauty shop in Moira, before becoming a mother and housewife full time. She was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church, and was a member of the Moira Vol. Fire and Rescue Auxiliary.
Loretta may best be remembered for her sharp wit as well as her love of animals. She enjoyed passing time talking with friends, working in her garden, reading and doing crossword puzzles.
She leaves behind four children: Sharon Decker of Spokane, Washington, Laura Decker of Portland, Oregon, Eric Decker of Colville, Washington, and Cindy Rockhill of Saranac Lake; three grandchildren: Neil DeBeer, Jordan Rockhill and Ryan Decker; as well as one great grandson, Adriane DeBeer.
She is predeceased by her husband Frederic, as well as siblings Leo Dishaw, Henry Dishaw, Gladys Goodrich, Amelia Dillibough and Marjorie Robert.
