Stafford S. Daniels, 89, of Tupper Lake passed away Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2017, at the Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake.

Born Nov. 14, 1927, in Indian Lake, he was the son of Sidney and Carrie (Giraurd) Daniels. Stafford grew up in Indian Lake and married the former Helen Miller on Dec. 24, 1950. They made their home on Little Wolf Road in Tupper Lake.

Stafford was a veteran of the U.S. Army and Navy, serving from August 1946 to February 1951.

He was employed most of his life as a caretaker on Upper Saranac Lake, retiring in 2015. Stafford enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing and wildlife.

He is survived by his wife Helen; two daughters: Trudy Lanthier and her husband Isidore of Saranac Lake and Pam LeClair and her husband Bruce of Keeseville; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.

He was predeceased by a daughter, Carol Jacob, two brothers and four sisters.

Calling hours are scheduled from 1 to 3 p.m. Friday, Feb. 17, followed by a funeral service at 3 p.m. at the Stuart-Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Tupper Lake. Burial will be in Holy Name Cemetery in Tupper Lake in May.
