Terrance “Terry” Gallagher

Terrance “Terry” Gallagher, 70, of McKinley Street, Lake Placid, died Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2016 at Adirondack Medical Center.

Born in Syracuse on March 17, 1946, he was the son of Raymond and Katherine Gallagher.

Terry served in the United States Air Force from 1964 to 1968.

He met his future wife Cathy at the Rendezvous Bar in downtown Syracuse.

They were married in 1971, at which time they made frequent trips to Lake Placid.

Both were so enchanted with this exquisite area, they decided to settle down permanently.

For the past 38 years, he has been employed at the Lake Placid Central School.

He has been known to comment on many occasions: “It is the little details that I can do for my cherished school district.”

As he approached later years, he rarely thought of retirement. “How can I leave a place that has become such a part of my life,” he would remark.

He had a warmhearted and compassionate spirit. There have been many times he would find a tiny sparrow trapped at a window. He would gently and carefully carry it to freedom to fly away.

He is survived by his wife Cathy of 45 years; his little Babe dog, Rascal cat; two sisters: Kathy of New Hampshire and Barbara of Florida; his brother-in-law Gary Borrowman of Syracuse and many nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father; two brothers: Michael and Charles; and his beloved Lucky Boy, who he tenderly and lovingly treasured during his life.

A short graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 3 at North Elba Cemetery in Lake Placid. The Rev.Patricia Molik will officiate.

The M.B. Clark Inc. Funeral Home in Lake Placid is in charge of arrangements. Relatives and friends are invited to share a memory, prayer or leave online condolences at www.mbclarkfuneralhome.com.
