Bakery Concert Series continues Sunday at Lake Flower Landing

SARANAC LAKE — The second concert in the Bakery Concert Series, hosted by cellist Esther Rogers Baker and multi-instrumentalist/composer Gene Baker, continues at 4 p.m. Sunday with performers Elaine Dewar; violin, Peggy Wheeler; viola, and Laurel Kuxhaus; oboe and English horn.

Composers featured will be Gene Baker, Esther Rogers Baker, Benjamin Britten, Morton Feldman, Aleksander Sternfeld-Dunn, and Thelonious Monk.

Each month, Gene and Esther will perform with special guests. Future offerings include Adirondack Crane professor of electronic music Jerrod Sommerfeldt, Connecticut violinist Annie Trepanier, and guest composer Hilary Tann, among others.

The Bakery Concert Series features a wide variety of music and composers that reach from microtonal improvisation, to compositions by Maurice Ravel and Bohuslav Martinu, to electro-acoustic works featuring signal processing & live synthesis, and Chinese-American composer Lei Liang. Audience members can expect a friendly, intimate environment where they can rendezvous with new musical tastes and ideas. Each concert will be a new adventure in listening.

Lake Flower Landing, located at 421 Lake Flower Ave., is a newly renovated event space and the working studios/gallery of Karen Davidson and Peter Seward. Programming includes concerts, film screenings and drawing sessions.
