SARANAC LAKE — Saranac Village at Will Rogers is hosting artist Matt Burnett for evening art lessons on Sundays from 6 to 8:30 p.m.

The lessons began Dec. 4 and continue on Sunday evenings through Jan. 29, excluding Christmas Day. Personalized lessons will given in drawing, oil painting and watercolor. No prior experience is necessary.

Burnett is a native of the central Adirondacks, growing up in what is now the William C. Whitney area between Long Lake and Tupper Lake. He was strongly influenced by the protected wilderness and beauty of the central Adirondacks. With works in oils, photography and video, he explores themes of wilderness, nature and culture with a particular interest in environmental sustainability. His work has been exhibited internationally. Additionally, he worked as an assistant forest ranger for 10 years and is currently a certified state wilderness guide.

This program is open to the public, and refreshments will be provided. Classes will be free for Will Rogers residents and $10 per lesson for others. Any participant under 14 years of age must be accompanied by an adult.

For more information or to RSVP, contact the artist at burnettm@canton.edu or 518-524-6441.
