Building owners, managers sought for energy assessments

SARANAC LAKE — Building owners and managers in the Saranac Lake area are invited to participate in a new program designed to reduce energy costs.

The Adirondack North Country Association is coordinating a project called the Aggregation for Community Energy Security, which allows businesses, municipalities and nonprofits who own or manage private or public-purpose buildings in and near the village of Saranac Lake to receive reduced cost energy assessments and examine potential energy efficiency upgrades.

Over 20 people attended an informational kick-off event for the ACES project on April 25 at the Saranac Lake Village Board Room in Saranac Lake. The event was hosted by ANCA and regional contractor L&S Energy Services. The two entities are seeking participants for the energy assessments, which will be conducted through the end of May.

By aggregating participants for the project, ANCA and L&S Energy Services are able to offer energy assessments for reduced cost. Participants will receive a report characterizing the energy-efficiency performance of their buildings as well as specific measures they can take to lower their energy use and related expenses.
