SLIGO hosts Irish history exhibit

SARANAC LAKE — The Saranac Lake Irish Gaelic Organization will host an Irish heritage evening at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Hotel Saranac.

The event, titled “Irish Influence in the Adirondacks,” will highlight historically Irish contributions to Adirondack communities. The exhibit was made possible through the efforts of the Saranac Lake Irish Gaelic Organization, with help from the Irish-American Heritage Museum of Albany and the Hotel Saranac.

SLIGO is a newly formed group of residents dedicated to community service and the promotion and celebration of Irish and Irish-American history. Membership is open to anyone 18 years of age or older.

Saranac Lake’s St. Patrick’s Day parade and festivities on Saturday, March 16 are co-sponsored by SLIGO.
