WILMINGTON — Whiteface Mountain is celebrating with the third annual Santas Ski Free Day Sunday, Dec.9.

Guests, who dress as Mr. or Mrs. Claus, participate in a group photo and arrive by 10 a.m., receive a free lift ticket to ski or ride the Olympic mountain. Those who do not have a jolly red suit can donate a new toy (valued over $10) or a gently used winter coat and receive 50 percent off a lift ticket for the day. All donations will be collected by volunteers from the Boy Scouts of America and the Saranac Lake Key Club.

The village of Lake Placid will also host its Holiday Village Stroll this weekend, with appearances by Santa, an ice skating party, live music and a tree lighting ceremony.

The Olympic mountain opened ahead of schedule, Nov. 17, and today 25 trails are open for all levels and abilities.

Every Wednesday, excluding holidays, it’s Why Not Wednesday at Whiteface. Present any unopened Dasani or Coca-Cola product on Wednesdays to the mountain’s ticket window and get a one-day lift ticket for $48 (Limit one ticket per Coca-Cola product).
