Martz campaign goes ahead with unity event, even without all Democratic candidates

The Emily Martz campaign has announced they will go ahead with an election night unity event to wrap up the five-way Democratic primary on June 26.

The campaign initially floated the idea, then pulled it when it looked like two of the candidates — Tedra Cobb of Canton and Dylan Ratigan of Lake Placid — would not be attending.

While the Cobb campaign has confirmed it will still not be in attendance, and it appears the Ratigan campaign will not be there, either — they did not immediately respond to a request for comment — the event will go ahead anyway at the Queensbury Hotel in Glens Falls.

“We’re shifting the focus of the event,” said Christopher Di Mezzo, communication director for the Martz campaign. “Our guests of honor are the supporters and volunteers … this unity event is a celebration of the primary.”

The Patrick Nelson campaign and Katie Wilson campaign confirmed they will be in attendance at the unity event, which starts at 9 p.m. and runs until 2 a.m.

In addition to this event, the Martz campaign has proposed a summit in July, bringing together all the campaigns and the various citizen groups that participated in the election.

“[We want to] bring these folks together to say, ‘Here’s how we’re going to win in November,'” Di Mezzo said.
