2nd sex crime means prison for Deyoe

LEWIS — A former AuSable Valley Central School Board member is headed to prison following two sex-crime convictions within 10 years.

Anthony Deyoe, 38, of AuSable Forks was sentenced recently in Essex County Court to three to six years in state prison for promoting a sexual performance by a child younger than 17, a felony.

Deyoe sent pornographic images in January 2017 to a person who was ultimately arrested by the Norwalk Police Department in Connecticut, New York State Police Troop B Public Information Officer Trooper Jennifer Fleishman said.

State police later searched Deyoe’s residence for additional evidence of computer-related data and equipment and charged him with promoting an obscene performance by a child and disseminating indecent material, she said.

The Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force assisted with the investigation.

Past offense

Deyoe was sentenced in 2008 to six months in jail and 10 years of probation for having sexual contact with a 14-year-old girl. He pleaded guilty in that case to third-degree criminal sexual act, a felony.

Deyoe was serving on school board when the abuse occurred in 2007. He resigned in October of that year.

In that case, the victim’s mother read a statement from her daughter at that sentencing saying that Deyoe manipulated her and weaseled his way into their family. He had organized projects for the Make-a-Wish Foundation and had offered to help the girl develop talents in singing, music and art. The mother later learned that he had molested her daughter.

State prison

Deyoe is currently being held in Essex County Jail, awaiting transport to state prison.

The judge also ordered him to pay $1,425 in fees and surcharges.
