Mazdzer’s dance run comes to an end
Despite delivering two well-received performances on “Dancing with the Stars” these past two weeks, Olympic luge silver medalist and Saranac Laker Chris Mazdzer and his professional dance partner Witney Carson didn’t receive enough votes Monday to dance in the finals.
It was also MVP Week on the show, meaning every athlete chose a person to dedicate their dance to. Mazdzer chose his mother, Marty Lawthers, who claims to be a “Dancing with the Stars super fan.”
Mazdzer and Carson performed a fox trot set to Judy Garland’s “I got Rhythm” and dressed like they were in the 1930s. The two danced on a grand piano, and Lawthers even joined in for the finale. They got a total score of 33 out of 40, but the viewer votes weren’t enough to keep them out of the losers circle.
In a triple elimination Mazdzer and Carson were voted off along with figure skater Mirai Nagasu and her partner Alan Bersten and softball player Jennie Finch Daigle and her partner Keo Mostepe.
