Police rescue over 100 animals from upstate farm
LISBON (AP) — Authorities in upstate New York have rescued over 100 neglected animals from a farm.
The Post-Standard reports the Otsego County Sheriff’s Department and the Susquehanna Animal Shelter took custody of the animals at the New Lisbon farm Saturday morning. Authorities say there were 25 geese, 20 pigs, 13 chickens, 13 sheep, nine dogs, seven donkeys, seven rabbits, three ducks, one cat, two parakeets, a guinea hen, a pigeon and a tortoise.
Authorities say the animals were living in squalid conditions.
Police have arrested a man and a woman who own the property. They have been charged with animal cruelty and drug offenses. They are due in court later this month
