TUPPER LAKE — A Swift tractor trailer driver lost control of the vehicle and left the road near Blue Jay campsite on state Route 30 just before 1 a.m. today.

Tupper Lake Volunteer Fire Department Chief Royce Cole said volunteers were on scene throughout the early morning hours as cleanup takes place for the approximately 200 gallons of diesel fuel spilled from the truck.

State Department of Environmental Conservation spokesman Dave Winchell said his agency had no further information about the spill as of press time.

The driver was taken by Tupper Lake Ambulance and Rescue Squad to Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake with minor injuries, Cole said.

Two heavy duty tow trucks from Pottersville were helping to remove the truck from the roadside.
