DEC extends comments on St. Lawrence plan
The state Department of Environmental Conservation is extending the comment period for about 16,000 acres of state forests in St. Lawrence County.
Public comments on the St. Lawrence Foothills Unit Management Plan were originally going to be accepted until Aug. 25, but the DEC announced last week that it would now take comments until Sept. 29.
The plan calls for upgrades to trails, parking areas and lean-tos in the 13 different state forests that make up the unit. The lands are located in the towns of Colton, Hopkinton, Parishville, Potsdam, Pierrepont and Russell, all in St. Lawrence County.
