New York plans state campground upgrades

ALBANY (AP) — The state is proposing upgrades at several campgrounds in the Adirondacks and is taking public comments on the plans.

The plans are for Buck Pond campground in Franklin County, Caroga Lake in Fulton County, and three state campgrounds on Piseco Lake in Hamilton County.

At the 116-site Buck Pond campground, plans include four new restroom buildings; new playground facilities; rehabilitation of 15 campsites; removal of an island campsite and construction of a trail on an old railroad bed.

Plans for the 105-site Caroga Lake campground include replacing two restroom buildings and rehabilitating 20 campsites.

At Piseco Lake, two campgrounds are slated to get upgrades and the third, Poplar Point, would be converted to a day-use area.
