Rangers rescue another hiker near Whiteface summit
State Department of Environmental Conservation forest rangers rescued two injured hikers and a lost woman last week, including the second person with severe injuries near the summit of Whiteface Mountain.

On Wednesday, March 8, a 38-year-old female from Wilmington reported that she was lost in whiteout conditions near the summit of Mount Marshall.
The Lake Colden caretaker located the woman just before 6 p.m. and escorted her back to the interior outpost cabin.

A forest ranger found a 29-year-old man from Ballston Spa with an ankle injury at about 12:30 p.m. on Friday, March 10. The man was found near the junction of the Wright and Algonquin peaks trails.
Two additional rangers responded and escorted the man out to the Adirondak Loj trailhead. The man said he would seek medical assistance on his own.

Shortly after noon on Friday, March 10, rangers received a report of a man with a possible femur fracture near the summit of Whiteface Mountain.
The 31-year-old man from Cohoes was packaged in a litter and towed via snowmobile down the Whiteface Veterans Memorial Highway. The man was taken via ambulance to Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake.
