SARANAC LAKE — Volunteers will be at work today at Dewey Mountain, shoveling snow from the woods onto the course for Saturday’s World Snowshoe Championships.

“Help is needed for the World Snowshoe Championships as the Saranac Lake hosts are determined the race will go on,” village Trustee Rich Shapiro said in an email.

He said a morning crew and an afternoon crew are needed for today, from 9 a.m. to noon and noon to 3 p.m.

“People can take full shifts or for whatever time they can spare,” Shapiro said. “Bring your own shovels. Snowshoes or skis would be useful to get up to the sections further away from the lodge.”

Separately, Dewey Mountain issued an email blast Thursday night announcing a “Snow shoveling party” at the mountain this morning from 9 to 11 a.m.
