Autopsy: Snowmobilers died from drowning
Two brothers from western New York died of drowning after their snowmobiles went through the ice on Raquette Pond in Tupper Lake over the weekend, according to autopsy results released Tuesday by state police.
Franklin County Coroner Shaun Stuart rules the deaths accidental. Dr. C. Francis Varga performed the autopsies at Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake.
Stephen Sattler, 67, and Edward Sattler, 64, both from Blasdell near Buffalo, were found by state police and forest rangers early Monday morning. A state police dive team and rangers used air boats to recover the bodies of the two men.
State police said the case remains under investigation and ask anyone with information to call them in Ray Brook at 518-897-2000.
