High Peaks Info Center to stay closed longer than planned

LAKE PLACID — The Adirondack Mountain Club’s (ADK’s) High Peaks Information Center will remain closed longer than originally planned.

The club now says the center will be closed for construction until early February.

The HPIC closed in mid-October for renovations, and construction delays have led to the longer closing timeline.

Parking in the HPIC parking lots will be unaffected, but the building’s flush toilets and shower facilities will not be available during the renovation period. Portable toilets will be available.

ADK staff will operate out of a heated tent next to the HPIC from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily, but in a more limited capacity than usual. Micro-spike and snowshoe rentals will still be available, along with information and some retail merchandise.
