Tupper Lake man charged with forcible rape

TUPPER LAKE — A Tupper Lake man was arrested for allegedly choking and forcibly raping a 28-year-old woman on Thursday.

State police charged Dominic T. D’Errico, 32 at 6:40 p.m. Monday with first-degree rape, a felony, second-degree strangulation, a felony, and second-degree unlawful imprisonment, a misdemeanor.

The woman reported the incident on Sunday and told police D’Errico had committed the assault in her home in the Little Wolf Pond area, state police spokeswoman Trooper Jennifer Fleishman said.

D’Errico, who knew the woman, allegedly strangled her, held her down and forcibly raped her, Fleishman said.

The woman was treated at the Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake.

While investigating the incident, police found D’Errico was wanted by State Park Police on an active warrant in Saratoga County, Fleishman said.

D’Errico was arraigned in Tupper Lake town court and sent to Franklin County Jail in Malone in lieu of $25,000 cash bail or $50,000 bond. He remained in custody this morning.
