New board member named to Adirondack Public Observatory
TUPPER LAKE – The Adirondack Public Observatory Board of Directors has announced the addition of a new board member, David A. Aguilar. Aguilar is the past director of science information and public outreach at the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics, a naturalist, astronomer, author and artist. He is a past marketing communications director at Ball Aerospace and Technologies Corp., where he was a member of the Hubble Space Telescope repair team and past marketing director for PBS’s Emmy winning 7 part NOVA series, “Evolution.”
He directed NASA’s New Horizons Mission special media team on the historic Pluto Flyby Mission.
He is author and illustrator of seven National Geographic and three Random House space science books on astronomy.
“The APO is very excited about David joining our board and know that his knowledge and expertise will help guide us toward our future plans for the Astro-Science Center and Observatory,” the APO wrote in a press release.
